Catching attention is critical for any campaign especially when it is targeted at the youth. And you better be special or absolutely weird if you want to do that. Here is a Television Commercial developed for Coke’s Burn. Watch it and tell us if its just a fantastic video or a good Ad.
Superb! Wasn’t it?
But does it make real marketing sense? Debatable. Let’s see, what might be Coke thinking.
A stunning video, one that is sure to get attention, starts a social media interaction, like one which you are now a part of. This video already has around 7000 views in just 48 hrs of getting posted on Youtube. More so, the buzz carries on with people like me and you who would talk and debate about this. For e.g. I have blogged about it, I am going to straightaway post this on my Twitter and Facebook page where people should ideally retweet and like it respectively with a few bonus comments. So isn’t the purpose solved?
May be yes, but then isn’t this the coming of age for social media. Nike, Adididas, Puma and all other big daddies of the ad-spending world did the same with their marketing strategy during the Fifa World cup. Youtube, Facebook and Twitter came together to knit a social media marketing channel that stimulated popularity of those long commercials. But hey, how to measure the actual return on investment for such campaigns. Do likes turn into sales? Do retweets command brand value? All these are question relevant to this day and age.
What do you think?

Hey Hitesh
The Product is called ‘Burn’ and comes from Coke as a energy drink….. what we are arguing is that these long videos are these days made not for TV but for social media networks. So this is a change in marketing strategy as far as we are concerned. But we think there is hardly any good and credible parameter to weigh the return on such investments especially in the media space. So should the corporate world keep on investing on something that remains an abstract?

Social media marketing has been touted as a “cheap and easy” way to to spread your company’s marketing message. However, the number one rule for social media marketing success… is to first develop a comprehensive social media strategy. Nice post. Keep up the good work. All the best.
